ST. LOUIS SUBURBAN MUSIC EDUCATORS INFORMATION



ALL-SUBURBAN CONCERT BAND & JAZZ BAND AUDITIONS ARE:
MONDAY, OCTOBER 30 @ CLAYTON HIGH SCHOOL


CONCERT BAND AUDITION INFORMATION:

Concert Band Woodwinds and Brass: Etude 1 and Etude 2 (click for demo recordings)
• Check your Google Classroom for additional demo/play-along tracks •
PDF file of all sheet music, scroll to find your instrument

Concert Band Percussion:  Mallet Etude     Snare Etude     Timpani Etude (click for demo recordings)
Percussion are not required to play any scales

Woodwinds and Brass play scales listed here and both Etudes for each instrument.  Nothing needs to be memorized.

-Chromatic Scale full range of the instrument if possible

-Concert C, F, Bb, Eb, Ab scales, 2 octaves where possible

-Short sight-reading excerpt at the same difficulty of Etude 1
Percussion are not required to do any sight-reading

 

JAZZ BAND AUDITION INFORMATION:

Etude 1 - Swing Etude 2 - Bossa Nova

-Short sight-reading excerpt at the same difficulty of Etude 1 

-Optional improvisation with Bb Blues track



SOLO & SMALL ENSEMBLE FESTIVAL
Any NEMS Band Student in 7th or 8th grade has the opportunity to perform at the
St. Louis Suburban Solo & Small Ensemble Festival
. This is a single day event in April 2018 at Holman Middle School.
